Dedicated Server Hosting is a type of web hosting where an entire web server is leased to the client. Unlike Shared Hosting services, the client does not share their server with other users. This allows for the ultimate in security and flexibility for the subscriber - allowing the customer to choose the operating system, database, and various other applications to their specifications. The pricing involved in Dedicated Server hosting is far higher than it’s Shared Hosting counterpart, but is well worth the investment if you are running a business or have heavy traffic to your site.
Server administration may or may not be included in the service depending on the web host - this service is not standardized may (or may not) be offered as an add-on. Pricing is typically based on how much disk space and bandwidth is required for the site. In addition, since the equipment is leased to the client - specs on the processor, hard drive, and memory will generally increase with the plan you choose.
